Gunma Prefecture is celebrated as Japan's premier hot spring destination, home to numerous world-famous thermal resorts nestled among verdant mountains. Kusatsu Onsen and Ikaho Onsen are particularly renowned, drawing visitors and wellness seekers for centuries with their therapeutic waters and storied charm. The region's natural beauty—lush forests, mountain vistas, and changing seasons—forms the perfect backdrop to these historic spa towns.

Kusatsu Onsen, ranked among Japan's three greatest hot springs, centers around the iconic Yubatake (hot spring field) and its charming traditional streetscape. Ikaho Onsen captivates visitors with its distinctive stone-paved steps lined with historic wooden buildings and shops. Throughout the prefecture, countless other hot springs—such as Minakami and Yushuku—each offer their own unique character and healing waters.
